PROGRAM MANAGEMENT OFFICE AND PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION SUPPORT
Developing a strong project management process and culture that is aligned to organisational strategy is essential to long-term project success. In particular, the process and culture needs to embed strong decision-making, objective selection criteria and strong review processes.
Strategic priorities change due to the external and internal business environment influences. This can lead to changing needs of projects. The project management culture needs to support reviewing and closing down of projects that are no longer aligned with strategic goals without them being tainted as failures. Closing down projects that are no longer relevant should be celebrated as an effective use of organisational resources.
SPP, through our extensive experience in working with PMOs and implementing projects, has developed a range of insights and capabilities in relation to the coordinated management of initiatives and projects of strategic importance to an organisation. In SPP’s experience, there are fundamentals to good project management but the exact approach must be tailored to individual organisations.
